East Africa
Cargo to and from D.R. Congo
Two different countries logistically: the east off the Northern Corridor, the south off Dar es Salaam.
The DRC is not one destination. Cargo for Goma, Bukavu, Beni and Butembo comes off the Northern Corridor through Mombasa and Kampala and crosses at Kasindi or through Rwanda, roughly 2,000 km from the port. Cargo for Lubumbashi and the Katanga mining belt does not use this lane at all: it runs from Dar es Salaam down to Kasumbalesa, or up from the southern ports.
Which half of the country a consignment is going to therefore decides the port, the corridor and the paperwork before anything else does. It is worth settling the destination city first, because the two lanes share almost nothing but the container.
